Multi-Residential Design

Working primarily in multi-residential design through my career I have featured two main projects that I have worked on in luxury living in Boston. Working closely with the city and developers I worked in all phases of design and documentation to deliver high quality documentation and designs that held to client and city requirments.

50 Cambridge Park Drive

Role: Lead Job Captain

Project Overview: This project involved the design and development of a luxury residential complex featuring 300 units, a central courtyard, an amenity clubhouse, retail spaces, a fitness center, parking, and bike storage. The design emphasized high-end residential living with comprehensive amenities to meet both client standards and resident comfort.

Responsibilities:

Construction Documentation: As the sole job captain from late Schematic Design (SD) through Construction Administration (CA), developed the construction documents internally. Coordinated closely with the city, client, and all engineering teams to ensure thorough and accurate documentation.

Coordination and Liaison:

Acted as the primary point of contact for coordination between the design team, client, and various engineering disciplines. Managed communication and integration of design elements to align with both client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Design and Construction Administration:

During the transition of staff and project management late in the project, maintained continuity and provided critical oversight. Ensured that final design elements and construction administration processes were executed smoothly, leveraging in-depth knowledge of project requirements and client needs.

45 Townsend Street

This design project focused on creating a luxury residential development with extensive amenities to meet the needs of both the city and the client. The project features over 300 residential units, strategically distributed across multiple buildings on a sloped hill to integrate seamlessly with the landscape. The design includes a diverse range of amenities, enhancing the appeal and functionality of the development.

The complexity of the site posed significant challenges, which required careful consideration and innovative solutions. I collaborated directly with the firms design partner and a senior designer to conduct multiple design studies. These studies were crucial in supporting our design approach and were developed in response to feedback from community meetings and client reviews.

Key aspects of my role included:

Design Coordination:

Working closely with the design team to create and refine multiple design studies that addressed site-specific challenges and client requirements.

Community and Client Engagement:

Engaging with community stakeholders and incorporating their feedback to ensure the design was well-received and aligned with both community needs and client expectations.

Efficient Design Solutions:

Developing solutions that balanced the aesthetic, functional, and regulatory demands of the project.

This collaborative approach and iterative design process enabled us to deliver a design that was both supported by the community and efficient in its execution.
